Julija and I finished the silhouette shoot in record time and had plenty of time to kill.

As I just received my new Elinchrom Ranger ring flash I decided to take the opportunity to test it with Julija and this is the result

Light setup from my glamour shoot with Julija.

This shoot was done to test my new Elinchrom Ranger ring flash. As I am in the process of migrating to Elinchrom lighting, but I still have my Bowens, so I used them all for this shoot.

2×250w Bowens on the BG. Bowens 750W with beauty dish and Elinchrom 600W with beauty dish supposedly providing the rim lighting (but I had them set too low powered and you cannot see it, not that it was really needed) Elinchrom Ranger head with Deep Octa as the key and the ring flash on camera. The deep Octa did not have it’s front diffuser as I figured wanted less soft lighting on the key.

Using the Ranger head as the key was a PITA. The modelling light turns off plus when it is alone on the pack during light setup it is at 100% of the power setting and then drops to 66% when I added the ring which got 33%. So when I added the ring I had to bump up the power and remeasure the light. In other testing (self stuff :-)) the ratio between the to seem to work ok with the ring as a fill, but I might use my 600w as the key next time and relegate the ranger head as a hair light or something.
